Yesterday, I finished a Portuguese version of this website.
I should confess that I don’t speak Portuguese so far. I can say hello and goodbye, can buy something simple in a shop using Portuguese, plus, I know several common phrases like Feliz Aniversário (Happy Birthday) etc. But I understand almost nothing when listening to a speech in Portuguese.
Of course, I’m going to learn that language if only because it is the language of this country. Also, those Russians who told me that I don’t need Portuguese due to everyone here speaks English were wrong! Maybe it works in Lisbon but definitely not in Alentejo!
So, the Portuguese version of this site is made with the help of an electronic translator. Excellent translator, maybe the best one. But it’s not human, and I can’t check its possible inaccuracies. Therefore, I hope that those who know Portuguese perfectly won’t be too harsh to me. Just remember that it’s not bad not to know something. It’s bad not to try to change it.
